The Abbey of Saint-Genis-des-Fontaines in the Roussillon region of southwestern France. It was founded at the end of the 8th century or at the beginning of the 9th century by an abbot named Sentimir.[1] The cloister was a part of the monastery “under the abbot Michel from 1271 to 1283”[2]. Due to the impact of the French Revolution, the monastery was abandoned and eventually pieces of it was sold.[3] The cloister is made from “different colored marble: 99% pure white from Céret, pink from Conflent, and black from Corbières.”[4]
